How can local small and medium enterprises play a productive part in the nascent oil and gas sector within the region? What legal, legislative and regulatory frameworks might create enabling conditions for accelerated local skills development, job creation and inclusive economic development in the petroleum sector in East Africa? The High Level Policy dialogue explored these questions with a view to generating robust solutions for enhancing the development of effective and efficient SMEs to maximize the harnessing of local content laws and policies in the petroleum sectors in Kenya and Uganda for the accelerated development of the two countries. The Dialogue also explored the potential impacts of the East Africa Free Trade Agreement and the Continental Free Trade Agreement on skills development and mobility within the petroleum sector in East Africa.
