The Africa Regional Extractives Industry Knowledge Hub (AFREIKH) is a collaborative initiative between the Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) and the Strathmore Extractives Industry Centre (SEIC). AFREIKH’s establishment is premised on governance deficits and challenges plaguing the extractives sector in Africa that have in some in instances resulted in the “resource curse”. To address this situation, AFREIKH has adopted a three-pronged approach centered around research, skills-based training and policy engagement linking knowledge with practice.
Project funded by the African Development Bank through the African Legal Support Facility (ALSF) and the African Natural Resources Centre (ANRC), to provide capacity building to SMEs in Kenya and Uganda to participate in the oil and gas sector.
This Workshop was organised by EB and SEIC, in partnership the JTI and IDLO, and funded by the Ford Foundation, to enable judges and their legal researchers to understand and resolve complex issues arising from extractives projects.
Strathmore Extractives Industry Centre (SEIC) and EB have partnered with the International Senior Lawyers Project (ISLP), a US and UK based not-for-profit organization, to implement capacity building programmes targeting specific stakeholders in the extractives sector.
The AMLA Workshop, part of the African Mining Legislation Atlas (AMLA) Project which aims to provide customized contextual and legal data on Africa’s mining laws through the AMLA website as well as building the capacity of Africa’s next generation of legal experts in mining law.
